a Tribute to Shihan Pursiainen
Memorable moments were experienced on 26 August 2023 when at the coaches’ camp in Suomenniemi, Sihihan Pursiainen was surprised by the clubs’ joint gift, a wooden bear statue.
The Finnish national animal bear symbolises strength, but according to the Finnish folklores it also symbolises the cycle of life and rebirth.
The statue was placed in the front yard of the Shukokai academy at Suomenniemi and is now welcoming everyone to the academy. However, be a aware when arriving – the bear statue has quite a character and it is better for the newcomers to take a firm stand upon arrival!
Shihan Esa Kaplas and representatives of the clubs were also present at the disclosure ceremony.

Tunnustusta Shihan Pursiaiselle
26.8.2023 koettiin ikimuistoisia hetkiä, kun
Suomenniemellä pidetyn valmentajien leirin yhteydessä
Shihan Pursiainen yllätettiin seurojen yhteislahjalla,
puisella karhupatsaalla.
Suomen kansalliseläin karhu symboloi voimaa, mutta kansantarinoiden
mukaan se symboloi myös elämän kiertokulkua ja uudelleensyntymistä.
Patsas sai paikan Karateopiston etupihalta ja on nyt toivottamassa
tulijat tervetulleeksi opistolle,tosin sen verran karhupatsaalla on
luonnetta,
että tulijan on parasta ottaa tukeva asento saapuessa.
Paljastustilaisuudessa puheen piti Shihan Esa Kaplas ja
myös seurojen edustajat olivat paikalla.
